APEX FUN RUN IS ALMOST HERE
Published: Thu, Mar 2, 2017, 12:08PM CST

We are so excited to announce that our school will be participating in the Apex Fun Run again this year as our major Spring fundraiser! The Apex program will be with our students from February 27th – March 10th teaching leadership and fitness as we raise pledges to help our school. Please look in your child’s folder and for e-mails that will be sent to you from your teachers as the fun run gets nearer.

Please feel free to visit www.apexfunrun.com to learn about this interactive program that helps schools all over the country raise money, while promoting leadership and fitness. This year’s character theme is Apex Legends, where students will join the Apex team in an exciting adventure to discover what it means to become a Legendary Leader:
Learn!
Engage!
Give!
Empower!
Never Quit!
Do!

During the Apex Fun Run, students are challenged to get pledges for the laps they will run on Fun Run day to help our school. Students will run for 30 minutes and will run an average 26-36 laps, with the maximum amount of laps being 36 (each lap is 1/16th of a mile). Sponsors can pledge $1/lap, $2/lap, $5/lap, or any other amount for students. All students will receive their own pledge kit with an individual access code that allows you to enter pledges online. All students will receive Apex wrist bands, Apex race-day lap-counters, and team awards. We will need your help in the following four ways:
Help connect your child to potential sponsors and help them acquire pledges from family, friends and contacts.
Ask your child about the “Apex Legend” character lessons, and download the FREE “Apex Fun Run” App!
Come to the Apex Fun Run and don’t forget to invite others to attend our fun-filled community event.
Help volunteer for the race! We need a few parents to help cheer on students and mark laps. If you would like to volunteer for your student’s race, please contact Monica Kirchmer at mekirchmer@gmail.com

We raised almost $7,000!  We will be discussing which of these items we can purchase for our school at our next PTO meeting (Tuesday at 6:30pm). Thank you for helping make our school great!

Winter Parties Are Coming Up!
Published: Mon, Dec 5, 2016, 12:27PM CST

If you are a room parent, please check in with your teacher to finalize Winter Party plans. Even if you are not a room parent it might be a good idea to check in with your child’s teacher to make sure there is a party plan in place and volunteers to help. We want every class to have a fun winter celebration, but without a room parent or parent volunteers that cannot happen!
2A Kyle Steele does not have a room parent. If your child is in her class, it might be a good idea to reach out to her to ask how you can help. It would be very sad for 2A to not have a winter party like the rest of 2nd grade.

Write-A-Check Is Here!!! CONTRIBUTE TODAY!
The Valley Ranch Elementary WRITE-A-CHECK CAMPAIGN KICKED OFF on
October 12, 2016. This campaign is a fundraiser where the money raised stays at VRE and is not put into the district’s general fund. Your child will be bringing
home a flier notifying you of the start of write-a-check. Please consider
donating/participating (participation is determined by number of Write-a-check
completed and fliers returned. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year and the
fabulous thing about it is you do not have to do anything, but write a check. No
selling cookie dough or wrapping paper! These funds help us provide the
“extras” for our learners and teachers that the district and state can’t provide.
The generous donations from parents like you in the past are what make VRE a
top rated Coppell campus.
